As upper elementary teachers, we understand the importance of making learning enjoyable and relevant for our students. What better way to combine fun and learning than with math games basketball style? In this post, we’ll explore several engaging math activities inspired by March Madness, designed to enhance multiplication, division, addition, subtraction, decimals, fractions, and other key skills. Let’s turn our classrooms into courts of mathematical mastery!
Equip your students with multiplication skills as they participate in a thrilling three-point shootout! Create flashcards with multiplication problems tailored to your student’s level. Set up “hoops” around the classroom (using bins or designated areas), each labeled with a point value. Students solve the multiplication problems on their flashcards and “shoot” their answers into the corresponding hoops. Award points based on accuracy and difficulty level. This game reinforces multiplication and adds an element of friendly competition.
