EdExpo Top Ten Winners

This past weekend, I had the privilege of attending this year’s EdExpo in Atlanta.

It was a packed weekend! Not only did I get to spend time with some amazing Teacher-Bloggers and new friends, I was also able to attend the amazing Kim Bearden’s keynote address. For those of you who are not familiar with Kim, she is the co-founder of Ron Clark Academy. Her energy and excitement left me so inspired and ready to head back to school on Monday!

After the keynote address, we were able to explore the Expo, visiting and chatting with representatives from the leading educational companies as well as some creative entrepreneurs working to get their products recognized. At the end of the day, each blogger narrowed down our top ten products and turned in our votes. I will be sharing more specifics about MY top ten soon, but here are the overall winners. (I was so glad to see some of my favorites make the list!) There were a couple of ties, so you’ll actually see twelve products bloggers all over the country are excited about!

2. The Reading Game

Primary grades teachers were all abuzz about this game that reinforces basic reading skills. (Website)

3. Say It! (Felix Ltd.)

Simple yet engaging! Students draw word cards and use them to build sentences. Already a student favorite in my classroom! (Website)

4. Fidgets (Endless Possibilities, Inc.)

4. Goldiblocks

Books and construction toys for girls. (Website)

5. The F.U.N. Empty Number Line System (Learning Advantage)

Show numbers in multiple forms right on the number line to build student number sense. (Website)

6. Math Bands (Learn in Style)

Rubber bracelets students love with multiplication facts teachers need them to learn! (Website)

7. Busy Fingers (Fiddle Focus)

Keep busy fingers moving. Hides inside or under student desks. (Website)

8. Pencil Grips (The Pencil Grip)

Correct students’ incorrect pencil grip with this three-step pencil grip system. (Website)

10. Kapla Blocks (KAPLA Tom’s Toys, LLC)

10. Cool Circuits (Science Wiz)

Look for all of these innovative products at your local teacher store or head over to EdMarket’s dealer locator and search for a store near you!

Stay tuned for my favorite picks. I will be sharing details about each one and student reactions as I begin using them in my classroom. Several of my picks have already gotten rave reviews from my students!

Happy Teaching, Kristen

I had purchased other flip books in the past and found them tricky or time-consuming. Not the case with this one! Very simple to use and will be a friendly tool to communicate important information with parents.

This is the best tool for organized groups! The kids love the timer and I love how it is color-coded for 2 minutes and 1 minute. I use this every day for reading and math centers!

After 2 years of using this resource I can say that it dramatically helped my usually low performing students be recognized as in the top 10% of growth in the state. This is a must have for any 5th grade teacher.

I love this resource! It was thorough and fun. The kids had a great time going through the various stations. The activities really helped to reinforce their understanding of probability. It was a hit and I will be using this for many years to come. Thank you!
